A little off the Fringe!

So Matt and I are busy making meetings and seeing venues for The Universe (101). So far we have seen a few promising spaces such as the McCadden Theatre. It’s all really a question of getting the right space, with the right feel for the right price.

Fringe Theatre is an amazing thing. Artists don’t do it for money, almost all performers operate at a loss. They take work to the Fringe to push themselves and to push art in interesting directions. Having said that, we need to ensure that we make an effort to cover the costs of mounting a theatrical production- so lots to consider! Little intricacies such as venue location and free parking can make a huge difference. The ability to flyer and get walk-up is in Edinburgh, a huge factor and it will be interesting to see if there are any parallels in the land where the automobile is king!

Sketches for the stage design and planning the narrative structure have revealed the absolute basics that we need to mount the show and I’m already excited about the prospect of fitting the imagined performance to the reality of the space.

It’s lovely to be working with another creative that gets as stoked as I do when we come up with a great visual gag or a piece of comic business.

More as we get it!
